Celebrate Tomato Season

Finally… since it is a bit cooler up here in the Hudson Valley, tomato season has just arrived and with a flourish. Last year all of my carefully planted and tended plants turned black and were subject to the tomato blight. Sadly, no tomatoes. But this year is making up for it.

Every day I have a basketful of new shapes and colors. And every day there is the struggle to get out there and pick them before the rest of the animal population does.

Thanksgiving in July…Hmmmmm?!!

While most folks are taking long weekends at the beach or enjoying a leisurely summer vacation, I am in a hot kitchen with both of my ovens on high…making Thanksgiving dinner.

Unfortunately every year, a handful of clients ask for Thanksgiving recipe development and photography during the biggest heat wave of summer. You can predict this and schedule your vacation or poolside retreat by it…you just have to give me a shout and ask when my deadline is for this unseasonably and untimely development.

So Stylish

If you ever see me in the grocery store I am the one who looks like I am having an OCD moment, picking through the produce aisle to find that one perfect-looking apple or trying to find that pear with personality.

Yes, that is what I get paid for and being slightly OCD or a perfectionist is actually a prerequisite and desirable in my occupation as a food stylist. No kidding!
